How to register on the Brussels Health Network?
To register as a patient on the Brussels Health Newtork, you have 4 possible options whether you can do it by yourself or prefer to ask for help.
1. Via the online applications (Itsme or e-ID) :
Choose between Itsme application or take your electronic identity card (eID), pin code and card reader.
2. Via a pdf form
If you do not have a card reader, an eID, or your PIN code, you can register by completing the form and sending it to info@abrumet.be.
3. Via your doctor, pharmacist, or health insurance fund
If your doctor is registered with the Brussels Health Network, they can also register you through their professional portal.
4.Through the hospital admissions service
All Brussels hospitals can register you during your next hospital visit. Please inquire at the admissions desk of your hospital.
Registering with the Brussels Health Network is considered consent to the national exchange of data for continuity of care. You can find more information on this at www.myhealth.be.
Only registration via the PDF form or through the online applications gives you access to your shared health record.
I am a foreign national in Belgium. How can I register?
- Foreign citizens officially residing in Belgium who, like Belgian citizens, possess an EID card. They can therefore also give their consent and have access to the Brussels Health Network.Choose the registration of consent method that suits you best.
- Those not yet considered as official residents in Belgium but are receiving social benefits were given a bis number by the Crossroads Bank for social security . This number can also be used to record consent.
If the first 6 digits of the NISS number does not match your birth date, complete the pdf form and return it to the administrative department of Abrumet.

You can withdraw your consent at any time:

Log in to your patient portal using Itsme or eID

Open the “Consent” tab

Click on “Withdraw my consent”

2. What’s happens in the case of death?
Death automatically terminates access to digital file sharing health records. In effect, the therapeutic relationship has ceased.
The system records the death of the patient, which modifies the rights of access to his file in accordance with the applicable legislation including the law of 22.08.2002 on patient rights and the GDPR.
Although the data remains available, the records can not be used for any purpose other than a medical/legal context or be accessible indirectly by the family, under the provisions in law of the patient rights..
