Have things gone pear-shaped? Access your health data through the Brussels Health Network!
As the popular saying goes, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. The apple symbolises good health and wellbeing, which is why we chose it as the main theme for our 2023 eHealth week.
Find a virtual apple to participate in our competition “apple hunting” or bite into a real apple if you run into us in shopping centres across the region during eHealth week.
Did you know that you have online access to your health record?
As a patient, you must consent to sharing your health data so the health professionals that take care of you can check and publish your health data to the Brussels Health Network.
All documents that your care providers decide to share, in consultation with you, make up your health record.
You can also access your health record online!
To connect to the Brussels Health Network, you will need:
- Your electronic identity card (eID) + card reader + your PIN code
- the Itsme application
What is the Brussels Health Network ?
The Brussels Health Network is a data-sharing network that brings together all Brussels and Belgian hospitals so doctors can treat you anywhere in Belgium.
By registering for the Brussels Health Network, you give all doctors who care for you rapid and secure access to your health data and medical records.

Advantages of the Shared Health Record :

- Keep your health data online and make them available to all the health professionals who care for you (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, etc.).
- Simplify the transmission of your medical history and state of health during your consultations.
- Avoid unnecessary examinations and prescriptions or interactions between medications.
- Better care for you in case of emergency by saving precious time time thanks to the history of your state of health.

What can you do as a patient in your shared health record ?
Consult your profile and add notes (reminders, questions, etc.)
Read the content of your summary health record (also called SUMEHR)
Check and manage who accessed your documents (authorized health professionals)
Check the list of shared documents and content of documents (if the author of the document has given access)
